GMB's Alex Beresford would rather have done The Masked Singer than ITV All Star Musicals

Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford admits he would rather have done The Masked Singer than All Star Musicals.

On Sunday night (April 3), he and a host of stars not only face a live audience but also a panel of West End experts judging their performances of songs from famous stage shows.

Brave Alex will be rapping a track from Hamilton but he admits: ‘‘On The Masked Singer you can just let go because no one can see you and you don’t have to worry about how you look or move as you are in a disguise.

‘‘But on All Star Musicals when I got to the side of the stage I was so nervous all the words to my song went from my head and I couldn’t remember the first word!’’

He will be joined by Springwatch’s Michaela Strachan, EastEnders ’ actress Jacqueline Jossa, Corrie’s Lisa George, James Bond actor Colin Salmon and rugby star Danny Care.

It comes after Alex left his role at ITV West Country after 17 years.

The meteorologist, 40, has been presenting the weather forecast across the South West for almost two decades alongside his role on the ITV breakfast show.

However, he will now take on a new position with the national ITV news team.

Speaking to ITV, Alex explained: “It’s been over a decade since I’ve been working across the region and it’s been the most amazing time

“It’s been a special part of my life and I’m going to miss it. I’m a Bristol boy through and through.

“The West Country is an amazing place to work. I’d never been to Cornwall before I started working at ITV West Country and I got to explore one of the best parts of the world in my opinion.”

It comes after almost a year after he clashed with GMB host Piers Morgan live on air.

The explosive TV moment led to Piers’ exit from the breakfast show in March 2021.

All Star Musicals airs Sunday night on ITV
