EastEnders star Danny Dyer met his “family” when The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall paid a visit to the set of the BBC soap.
The actor, who plays landlord Mick Carter, discovered in 2016 that he was linked to the royals.
He appeared on TV’s Who Do You Think You Are and found out he was related to Thomas Cromwell, Edward III, William the Conqueror and Henry III.
This week he got the chance to get close when Prince Charles and Camilla visited Albert Square but he shied away from mentioning any family ties.
He said: “It just don’t go down well does it? I don’t think they’d believe me. I am 147,000 (in line) to the throne, not that I’ve Googled it.
“Very random to see the royals, you know, up close they were very charming, really chatty, they’ve got mad faces when you’re close. So excited to have them here, meet them and introduce them to the Square.”
The couple met many cast members inclduing Steve McFadden, Gillian Taylforth and Natalie Cassidy.
And they watched the stars filming scenes for a forthcoming episode where the residents of Albert Square celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a street party.
Camilla also told deaf actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, who plays Frankie Lewis on the soap, that the royals love Strictly and were thrilled she had won last year.
She said: “Rose, the Strictly star. I said we were all voting for Rose, I don’t know how you did all those dances.”
After embarking on a journey through hundreds of years of history, Danny discovered that he is a direct descendant of both Henry VIII’s right-hand man Thomas Cromwell and every English king from Edward III right back to William the Conqueror.
Standing in front of King Edward III’s tomb in Westminster Abbey, he said: “A kid from Canning Town, and this is my bloodline? It doesn’t feel real.
“To think that somebody of my stature, somebody from absolutely nothing – and his blood is my blood. I cannot compute it in my brain that this man is related to me, this wonderful powerful man.
“People are going to expect me to be related to criminals,” he said. “Maybe I am related to some, but I want to freak a few people out and be related to aristocracy.”
