Love Island alumni Sharon Gaffka has admitted that the cast from 2021’s series were “forced to be friends” and that their group chat is “dead”.
The 26-year-old was one of the original members of the crew when she was eliminated from the island in week three, after her date Danny decided to couple up with someone else.
Despite her short time in the villa, Sharon appeared to make friends with Hugo Hammond and Faye Winter, but has recently revealed that she doesn’t speak to the ex-islanders anymore.
She told The Sun: “There is a WhatsApp group with everyone in there, pretty much. I think it’s quite dead but it’s not in a malicious way. I think it’s because you are forced to be friends with people in the villa, right?”
The former civil servant was also on the show with winners Millie Court and Liam Reardon, alongside iconic couple Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran.
Since the show, Sharon has been spotted on nights out with islanders Aaron Simpson and Abi Rawlings but has refused to name her least favourite co-stars.
Despite having spent three weeks in the Mallorcan villa for the ITV2 show, Sharon admitted that the cast were not very close.
She said: “They’re the only people you have around you. Obviously you’re friends with them, but sometimes when you go into the real world as an adult you [realise you’re] never going to be friends with everyone.”
Gaffka said that due to “personality clashes” her life may not “mix well with people” but she has no “bad blood from her heart”.
Former Love Islander Faye Winter has previously said that there were some issues with some islanders when she came out of the villa.
The 26-year-old spoke on Vicky Pattison’s podcast about the experience: “”A lot of the ex islanders had a lot of opinions on me. I don’t know them and I don’t take people’s opinions when I don’t know them to heart, at all.”
She said that when she came out of the villa, there were “a few” people that “didn’t want to talk to her.”
The ex-islander faced backlash after she was filmed screaming at her boyfriend Teddy Soares whilst in the villa and apologised upon her departure.
