Eamonn Holmes has taken a subtle dig at his former employers ITV on Twitter after a fan called out Good Morning Britain’s reporting.
Eamonn thanked a fan after they complimented his presenting style whilst discussing a video from the official Good Morning Britain Twitter account.
One disgruntled viewer replied to GMB’s tweet and shared their thoughts: “Oh, for heaven’s sake Good Morning Britain. Move on and change the record. Another reason I do not watch this and watch GB News with Eamonn and Isobel, those two are such a refreshing start to the morning.”
A grateful Eamonn quote tweeted her message with: “Thank you Brenda,” and signed off with a kiss.
The official GMB profile posted a video of Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley and asked their followers if it was “best” that the politicians who have been fined as a result of “partygate” should be made public.
In the video, presenter Kate Garraway asked Secretary of State Simon Harp whether he agreed that the politicians who have been fined for breaching lockdown laws should be named.
Kate mentioned that Helen MacNamara, formerly the head of ethics at 10 Downing Street, will be fined for her involvement in the partygate scandal.
In particular, Kate pointed out that she “brought a karaoke machine” to one of the parties “while the rest of the country couldn’t meet at all” or even “sing in church”.
She then directed her question to Simon and asked him whether he thinks it’s best for those involved to be named and shamed because “it looks a little bit like” the blame has been pushed onto civil servants, and “not on politicians”.
Simon said that there was still “unfinished legal business” and that the law is “perfectly clear about what else should or shouldn’t be” a “matter to the public”.
He then said that Helen McNamara’s name is “clearly in the frame,” while Kate interrupted him to say that the “law was very clear” during lockdown.
She urged him to answer directly by rephrasing the question and he replied by saying that there are “things he wished were done differently” back when the pandemic began “two years ago”.
Simon also said that politicians have “held their hands up” and Boris Johnson has apologised on “a couple of occasions”.
Simon went on to add that “context is everything”.
