Steph’s Packed Lunch star Luke Kempner appeared to storm off set when his co-star joked he had “no personality”.
Steph McGovern’s Channel 4 chat show returned to screens on Wednesday (April 6), and it saw show regular Luke join John Whaite, Mike Reid and Jane Seymour in the studio.
However, host Steph couldn’t resist taking a cheeky dig at Luke in front of his fellow panelists, joking that he didn’t have any personality, and it all escalated very quickly.
It came during a debate on whether intelligence or personality gets somebody further in their career.
TV chef Mike Reid said he likes to see how new kitchen recruits interact with the rest of his staff as interviews aren’t enough to give a clear judge of character.
He said: “It’s very hard to see how they really are, but once they’re in that environment. Once they’re doing the job you can usually see [what they’re like] really quickly.”
Steph then quipped her co-star Luke would have trouble as he lacks both personality and intelligence.
She said: “I just wonder what you do though when you have no intelligence and no personality though, like Luke.”
The studio erupted in laughter before Luke said “I ain’t having that. See you later! That is out of order.”
Reacting to Steph in jokingly-furious fashion, Luke cut the segment short and walked off as if to suggest he was done with the show.
Steph replied: “I’m only kidding!”, and Luke quickly returned to his seat during the banter-fueled exchange with Steph.
He then joked: “I wouldn’t leave the screen, ever!”
Spitting Image star Luke works as an actor, but he’s also a stand-up comedian and impressionist.
