When it comes to cooking great food, TV chef Gordon Ramsay never takes any prisoners.
The Kitchen Nightmares star is famed for tearing into his chefs when they make epic mistakes on the screen, and this week was certainly no different.
The Michelin-starred chef has been fronting his new BBC food show, Future Food Stars, which sees 12 hand-picked food and drink entrepreneurs battle against each-other in weekly tasks.
The food-enthused contestants are all competing in a bid to secure Gordon’s life-changing £150,000 investment in their business, which comes from his own pocket.
It follows a similar format to Lord Sugar’s famed business show The Apprentice, which also sees entrepreneurs go head-to-head in weekly business tasks with the chance to secure a huge investment.
Thursday’s show (April 7) saw the foodies venture into the great outdoors and whip up a feast in the forest – based in London’s Chiltern Hills countryside.
The Greens consisted of Leah. Jamie, Matthew, Steph, and Victoria, whilst the Reds included Jen, Amit, Michelle, Valentina and Asher.
The rival teams even had to forage for ingredients themselves and cook their meals on open fires, which they later serve to paying guests.
However, it all went wrong for the Green team when zero-waste restaurant owner Matthew kept stumbling on his words in front of Gordon himself.
To see how the team were getting on, Gordon asked Matthew to show him a rehearsal of his team’s feast experience – treating him like a regular customer.
He said: “Matthew, I’m the guest. I want a little run-through.”
Matthew then launched into his greeting speech, but he got confused immediately when he said: “Good evening, good afternoon, and welcome…”
Gordon wasn’t having any of it and cut off the contestant immediately, saying: “Hold on, good evening, good afternoon, you’re f***ing backwards. Now what time is it?”
Matthew promptly apologised and replied: “It’s going to be 4 o’clock when we serve the guests, so good afternoon.”
Gordon said: “Exactly,” before asking him to welcome him back again, but he got it wrong again.
He told Gordon: “Good evening and welcome…”, and Ramsay was getting more irritated by the second.
The award-winning chef said: “Oh my god, good day, good evening. Daylight in the woodlands. Good evening. Holy sh**.”
When Matthew finally got it right, Gordon sat down to try some of the food, but when he stumbled yet again Gordon asked him if he had a clue what was going on.
He later advised the chef to be “way more relaxed” when serving guests as he was, in Gordon’s words, “scaring the sh** out of me”.
However, Matthew’s team won in the end as it was revealed that Green team pleased seven out of their 12 customers.
Red Team, on the other hand, were gutted to find out that 11 of their guest said they wouldn’t even pay.
It was cocktail connoisseur Jen who got the dreaded boot in the end, with Gordon telling her she failed to lead her team.
