The Chase's Bradley Walsh left open-mouthed as player on ITV quiz reveals real age

Bradley Walsh was left dumbfounded as a contestant revealed his actual age on Friday’s episode of The Chase (April 8).

The 61-year-old host was delighted to meet Phil a contestant who had lived an adventurous life working with a whole host of celebrities during his career in the theatre.

Intrigued by the player, Bradley quizzed him over his age, to which he replied: “I’m 82.”

“Wow 82, you look good for your age,” beamed the shocked host.

Fans online were equally stunned to learn that Phil had lived for more than eight decades, with one person writing: Good on ye Phil….82….brilliant !!!! #thechase.”

The spritely pensioner did a great a job in the cash builder, bagging four correct answers.

Phil landed some top answers in the face-off with the Chaser, even out smarting him on two questions.

He was asked: “What is said to be at the centre of a house,” with Phil answering correctly “fireplace”.

The Sinnerman failed to push the right button and hit back telling the star his wages weren’t high enough to know the answer to that question.

He fumed: “I’m just a mere chaser, I can’t afford a house with a fireplace to be perfectly honest with you.”

Phil safely managed to join Matt in the final chase, with the twosome securing £7,000 between them.

However, they came up against some hurdles and only managed to answer 10 questions correctly, which meant they were easily caught by Paul and no match at all for the Chaser.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
