Texas Chainsaw Massacre star Kathy Lamkin dies aged 74 after 'short illness'

Texas Chainsaw Massacre actress Kathy Lamkin has died at the age of 74 after battling a short illness earlier this month.

It is understood the impressive actress died last Monday (April 4) at her family home surrounded by those closest to her.

Her loving family shared the heartbreaking news with Deadline magazine, saying: “Kathy will be missed by her family and friends and left an impact on all that she encountered during her life on this Earth.”

She is best known for her role in the 2003 horror movie classic opposite Hollywood icon Jessica Biel.

The loving actress also impressively held her own as she performed alongside Javier Barden’s hitman Anton Chighurh as Desert Aire’s trailer park manager in the critically acclaimed film No Country for Old Men.

Kathy was born in the heart of Graham, Texas on December 10, 1947 but the star quickly went on to make an impact on in Hollywood with her incredible work on the big screen.

The actress landed her major role in the popular horror movie and soon went on to receive her first SAG Award as part of the cast of Coen Brothers’ acclaimed 2007 film.

She also appeared in such films as Waiting for Huffman, Confession, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Astronaut Farmer, In the Valley of Blah, The Heartbreak Kid, Sunshine Cleaning, Welcome to the Rileys and Sweetwater.

Her TV credits included Malcom in the Middle, Nip/Tuck, Medium, Bones, Boston Legion and My Name is Earl.

Over the years, the brunette beauty appeared in a total of 46 film and TV projects throughout her career between 1990 and 2014.

The star made her final appearance in 2014 in the indie movie Chimeras where she played the role of Anita in the gripping Western movie.

Outside of her movie roles, Kathy also taught acting at Cowell Elementary School in Houston before she later created and ran theatre arts at the Unicorn School of Acting and USA Theatre.

The star leaves behind her husband of 52 years Stephen L. Lamkin and her daughter Kati, her son Greg and his wife Jamie and their two grandchildren Benjamin and Morgan.
