Megan Barton Hanson hits out at Instagram for 'punishing women making a career'

Megan Barton Hanson has sent a fierce warning to Instagram officials after a concerned fan had reached out to inform her she’d been “shadow banned” from the site.

The Love Island star, 28, appeared to be furious as she hit back at the social media platform after one of her followers had handed over evidence that she could no longer find the reality babe on the app.

Dishing out warning, the unknown messenger first shared a screen shot to highlight what happened when typing Megan’s name into the search bar.

The informant also penned: “Hey lovely, Instagram are 100 percent shadow banning you as you don’t come up when I search for you, which means you aren’t being promoted in the algorithms either.”

They added: “It’s so sad x.”

Shadow banning, also known as stealth banning or ghost banning is the practice of blocking or partially blocking content from areas of the online community.

The idea of making users less prominent, is believed to provide hope is that the account owner will leave the site after receiving less interaction.

Having realised that admirers were unable to find her easily, Megan hit back slamming Instagram for “punishing women.”

In response, the reality star wrote: “@instagram just out here punishing women for making a career from their OWN bodies,” along with an annoyed face.

Daily Star can confirm that we also had issues with trying to view Megan’s platform and had to Google search the stars Instagram account to locate her page.

We have also reached out to Instagram for further comment.

The twosome who have made mega sums of cash from their racy OnlyFans profiles have stuck together in the fight against those criticising the sex worker industry.

Last year the ITV star took a stand at Halloween, dressing up as Vivian Ward from Pretty Woman to prove a point.
