Mad Men actor Robert Morse dies aged 90 as tributes pour in for late star

Mad Men actor Robert Morse has sadly died, his son confirmed.

He tragically died on Wednesday night but his cause of death is yet to be confirmed, ABC7 has reported.

The actor famously played Bertram Cooper in the drama series and earned five Emmy nominations for his role in Mad Men which he played between 2007 and 2015.

Alongside his time on Mad Men, he also starred in the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and On The Town in 1949.

He also appeared as Barnaby Tucker in the Broadway show The Matchmaker and starred in the film too.

While his career was a success in itself, he also celebrated big wins after landing a Tony Award for his role as the novelist Truman Capote in the 1989 play Tru.

Due to his time on stage, he was also inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 1999 after a long and successful career.

Morse appeared as Dominick Dunne in TV series The People v. O.J. Simpson, but his most recent project saw him return to Broadway aged 25 in the 2016 revival of The Front Page alongside Nathan Lane, John Slattery, John Goodman and Holland Taylor.

Morse made his mark on the world of showbiz and theatre as he continued to go from strength to strength as he built up his work both on stage and on screen.

Tributes have poured in for the actor who had a long and successful career as people celebrated his success within the industry.

A friend, Larry Karaszewski, said: “My good pal Bobby Morse has passed away at age 90.

“A huge talent and beautiful spirit. Sending love to his son Charlie and daughter Allyn.”

Another person wrote: “RIP Robert Morse. A theatre legend who gave prestige television one of its most magical moments, with his unmistakable showmanship and a constant, mischievous twinkle in his eye. Robert Morse succeeded by making it look like he wasn’t really trying.”

An additional person said: “Rest in peace, Robert Morse, the star of my favourite scene in TV history.”

Morse is survived by his wife Elizabeth Roberts and his grown children.
