Piers Morgan brands Alex Beresford 'idiot' before storming off ITV's Lorraine

Piers Morgan branded Alex Beresford an “idiot” during a segment on Lorraine which saw him march off an ITV studio for a second time.

Piers was a guest on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV lunchtime show and the topic of conversation turned to his resignation from GMB.

The 57-year-old journalist was presenting the early morning show when he entered an altercation with weatherman Alex Beresford.

The pair discussed Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Meghan and Harry, which led to a heated conversation.

Alex called out Piers for “continuing to trash her,” which caused the presenter to walk off set in annoyance.

On Lorraine’s show, Piers spoke about the now infamous move and revealed that things were not as they seemed.

Piers insisted that he “didn’t walk out,” which prompted an outburst from Lorraine.

“You did! We saw, there’s video evidence,” she cried.

“Play the video of me storming back in! I went back in that day,” claimed Piers.

Lorraine said that it “doesn’t count” whilst he tried to explain that he left the studio for a “time out”.

He then said why he left the studio: “I wasn’t too sure how I would respond if I had stayed sitting there, listening to that idiot giving me his two pennies worth, so I walked back in and I did finish that show.”

Piers admitted that he “chose not to apologise” and “left,” but said that he “had a great time” on Good Morning Britain and that he “loved” the show.

He was particularly proud of the fact that he had “trebled” the show’s ratings and is “looking forward to having the same success” on his new show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, which will be aired on Talk TV.

Talk TV is owned by News UK and is set to launch on 25 April, with Piers’ show as one of its first scheduled programmes.

Lorraine jokingly told him that he could “toddle off now,” to which Piers rose from his chair and walked off the Lorraine studio set as he shouted that he would “never come back”.

The host chuckled to herself and shouted that he “can’t help himself” as she watched him march away.
