Gordon Ramsay's BBC show under fire as fans fume over 'health and safety risk'

Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars was under fire from fuming fans who slammed contestants who weren’t cooking with their hair tied back.

The Michelin-starred chef’s new BBC show kicked off its fourth week on Thursday night (April 21), where contestants had to take over a fancy diner in the Cotswolds.

They were split up into three teams and tasked with designing their own menus, running their own kitchen and whipping up delicious dishes for paying customers.

However, some fans realised some of the food stars were preparing their meals without having tied their hair back.

The viewers thought this was rather unhygienic, and took to to Twitter to complain about it during the episode.

One fan wrote: “Why have these people not got their hair tied up? Gross”.

A second said: “The woman with the dark curly hair needs to tie it up”.

A third agreed: “Hair should be tied back crap health and safety”.

A fourth said: “Don’t they have to wear hair nets”.

A fifth added: “Why isn’t her hair tied back”.

It’s common practice for chefs with long hair to tie their hair back in nets, as it reduces the risk of their hair falling into the meals they’re cooking.

The Red team was comprised of Ahmet, Michelle, and Leah, who opted to serve curry under the name of Delhi Rickshaw Club.

Jamie, Asher & Matthew made up the Greens, who decided to opt for Mediterranean Munch and served dishes like hummus, pitta bread, halloumi and a greek salad side.

Steph, Victoria and Valentina named themselves Tokyo Crush and whipped up Japanese food.

In the end, it was the Reds who came up short, and Gordon found a number of errors in their performance.

But ultimately, it was jam, chutney and marmalades whizz Asher who got the boot after making too many mistakes as the team’s leader.

Gordon told him: “I love your passion, and I love your drive. I love the determination, but you’ve got to learn from your mistakes.”

Later on, Ramsay added: “Asher was so tunnel-vision. He couldn’t see all the mistakes he was making around him.”
