BBC The One Show fans 'cringing' as Lauren Laverne makes bizarre pregnancy claim

Viewers of The One Show were left “cringing” after host Lauren Laverne made a bizarre comment about Jermain Jenas falling pregnant during the show’s intro.

As the pair welcomed viewers to join them for their latest celeb-packed programme, Jermaine checked in with his co-host and discussed his latest bout of hay fever

“The hay fever is killing me though, I’m not gunna lie,” said Jermaine.

Lauren then agreed before adding some tips: “Oh the pollen count’s quite bad at the minute have you tried all the normal stuff? Like around the nostril a little bit of petroleum jelly?

“I have done that,” he replied.

“Have you tried having a shower before you go to bed to get rid of the pollen?” Again, Jermaine added that he had tried this tip already.

Lauren then shocked viewers at home by saying: “have you got pregnant? That worked for me!”

A shocked Jermaine looked baffled, saying simply, “erm, excuse me?”

Think about it, added Lauren. “I’ll leave that one with you. I’ll leave that idea in the fridge in case you wanna snack on it later.”

Fans endured another awkward hosting moment last week when Nikki Fox was left gutted after she made a pun-based joke about Sting concert tickets, but comedian Steve Coogan didn’t laugh at the quip.

Things turned awkward when presenter Nikki Fox told a joke about customers getting ‘stung’ by Sting tickets.

However, Nikki clearly didn’t get the response from Steve that she was looking for, so she took to giving him a stern word about it on air.

sHE told him: “You could have laughed at that, Coogan.”

The studio burst out laughing, and Steve eventually said: “I appreciated it.”

Nikki then laughed and said: “Thank you.”
