Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty rushed to hospital after heart attack

Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty, 62, has been rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack.

The 62-year-old was pictured lying on a hospital gurney with an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose, sounding out of breath as he told the camera about his heart.

Posting the worrying caption: “My heart I think… I had a heart attack. [Breathing] keeps being difficult. Heart attack I thought,” Paddy accompanied his Facebook post with a clip showing him in hospital.

He sounded slightly out of breath in the videos posted to his account, and claimed he had been stuck in a hospital corridor for two days as they didn’t have the facilities to move him – and a group of other patients – to a ward.

But he was quick to reassure fans despite the oxygen mask: “There’s nothing wrong with me, I’m fantastic, I’ve just got this on… I’m in the hallway.”

He explained: “It wasn’t just me, there’s a [lot] of people there, and the sad thing is it’s old gentlemen and old ladies, to see them stuck on a corridor.

“One man was pulling the blankets off, God help him he didn’t know. They said we’ve got to keep you covered up, we haven’t got the facilities.”

The star added alongside a video of the hallway: “Hats off to the doctors and nurses. The Government have let us all down.”

He added: “The nurses and doctors, they’re in like machines. Let me tell you, they get no breather and they get no thanks. NHS they’re God’s angels. They fight with their heart and soul, and I’m going to say listen everyone, support them.”

He was in good spirits

Speaking of his own health, he said: “I’m all right. I wouldn’t say I’m great but I’m getting there.”

Paddy said he “looked better” after shaving and brushing his teeth, and was “feeling 100 times better”.

He added: “I will be back stronger. I know what I’ve got to put right – I’m going to stop my drinking, stop messing about, and enjoy my life the way I was enjoying my life.

“You lose the respect of your wife, you lose the respect of your children. They’ll always love you, but it’s selfish and trapped in your own world, it’s how you deal with it, and I couldn’t deal with my mother in a [care] home. I used to drink just to get drunk.”

Paddy’s late mum was diagnosed with dementia before her death and spent her days in a care home – which took its toll on her son.

But the Paddy was clearly in good spirits and looking to the future as he congratulated Tyson Fury on his recent win, and mimicking Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator as he joked: “I’ll be back.”
