Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman has shared the secret behind her TV success – and says it’s all down to her hair.
The 50-year-old has said that if it wasn’t for her famous fringe, she wouldn’t be where she is today.
During her Behind The Fringe tour she told fans in Guildford that without her famous hairstyle she would have been a “virgin” who looked like a “dinosaur”.
Addressing the audience, Claudia said she has always had a fringe.
She said: “People ask what I am hiding with my fringe — and it’s a massive forehead that is repellent.
“I was born with six extra teeth like a little dinosaur. When people saw me smile they screamed.
“But when I was 21 and a virgin, I got my fringe and everything started happening.”
However, it would seem Claudia has come a long way since then, with her on-air work in the years that followed catapulting her into TV stardom – alongside her bold eyeliner, tanned skin and, of course, her fringe.
The TV presenter, most known for presenting Strictly Come Dancing, first joined the BBC franchise in 2004 when she hosted spin-off It Takes Two.
She continued in the role until the eighth series of Strictly, which was when she was bumped up to the main show to present the Sunday results.
Claudia then took over from Bruce in 2014 and her new role quickly helped her become a household name within the realm of Saturday night television.
Prior to that, it wasn’t until 1991 during her early twenties when she landed her first major role on BBC travel show Holiday.
She had been working as a travel writer before her television fame, and her journalism took a backseat as her status grew.
Claudia has also worked on radio as well as numerous other television shows.
