Angelina Jolie escorted to the safety of an air raid bunker during trip to Ukraine

Angelina Jolie was hurried away to the safety of an air-raid bunker in Lviv as air raid sires blasted off during her visit to city.

The Hollywood star had embarked on a trip to Ukraine to meet with refugees and show support amid Putin’s war on the country.

The UN goodwill ambassador was not on an official mission, and had travelled independently with friend Baroness Arminka Helić, who campaigns against rape as a weapon of war.

While visiting Lviv, Angelina was spotted by locals in a coffee shop. She also visited an orphanage, a rehabilitation centre and an aid distribution point.

The actress spent time with children who had been admitted to hospital in Lviv for treatment to injuries sustained in a missile strike.

The attack was on the Kramatorsk railway station in early April and appeared to target women and children trying to flee.

Lviv regional governor Maksym Kozytskyy said on Telegram: “She was very moved by (the childrens) stories.”

While in Lviv, Angelina met refugees who were escaping from Pokrovsk, a city that has been blitzed by Russian strikes.

She met volunteers working with the displaced, who told her that each of the psychiatrists on duty spoke to about 15 people a day.

It was while she was visiting Lviv that she was escorted to safety while sirens blared out across the city.

Many people were killed during a missile strike in the city last week.

Angelina seemed unfazed by the situation as she was seen waving to the camera, insisting she was okay.
