Love Island's Malin Andersson in disbelief over taking part in Queen's Speech

Parliament has invited Love Island star Malin Andersson to participate in The Queen’s speech.

Government officials have asked the reality TV star, 29, following her advocacy work around domestic abuse.

Malin, who has advocated the issue for many years, announced the news to her 738,000 followers on Instagram.

The influencer revealed that filming for the monumental project started instantly, with filming taking place on Wednesday (May 4).

Malin, who appeared on Love Island in 2016, wrote in a post last night: “Guys! I can’t believe I’ve been asked by No.10 Downing St. to be part of the Queen’s Speech in relation to my advocacy for domestic abuse.”

The Queen’s Speech is part of the annual State Opening of Parliament, with it set to be held on May 10 this year.

The speech is traditionally read out by The Queen in the House of Lords chamber and sets out the government’s proposed policies and legislation plan for the new session.

Since appearing on the popular ITV2 dating show, Malin has opened up about her experience as a victim of domestic abuse.

The mum-of-one shared a photo of a bruised arm to mark National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 2019.

Her ex-partner Tom Kemp was jailed in 2020 after admitting that he had assaulted her, with Malin said to have suffered broken bones and some bruising from the assault.

The former islander later said the psychological impact of being abused is “horrible,” with her previously stating that she has “flashbacks” and post-traumatic stress disorder.

She’s invovled due to her advocacy around domestic abuse

She opens up about her experience in her book Positivity Is Our Superpower which was released last month.

The self-help book is said to feature information on how she overcame past traumas and found healing,

Malin and boyfriend Jared welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in February.
