Britain’s Got Talent star Jonathan Goodwin has been left paralysed by a stunt that went wrong during a rehearsal on America’s Got Talent: Extreme.
It has been revealed that Jonathan, from Pembrokeshire, was crushed between two suspended cars after they caught fire.
He appeared on Lorraine on Friday (May 6) morning alongside his actress fiancée Amanda Abbington, who has appeared in BBC’s Sherlock.
Jonathan revealed that he suffered a catalogue of injuries, including a severed spinal cord and third-degree burns, after falling 30 feet.
He also lost a kidney, broke both shoulder blades and shattered both legs.
He was supposed to escape a straight jacket while suspended upside down 30 feet in the air in between two cars.
However, he became crushed between them as they caught fire.
Speaking on the ITV show, Amanda branded his cheekily branded her partner an “idiot”.
She said” “He’s an idiot but i’m a wally so it’s fine.”
Jonathan and Amanda went on to reveal that they plan to get married in the near future.
Opening up on the first time they met, the stunt daredevil explained: “We had known each other for a while but never met.
“Our first call was seven hours “I flew to Vienna, because she was working there, to meet her after a month of chatting.
“We were engaged without half an hour.”
As well as featuring on Simon Cowell’s talent shows, Goodwin has also featured on the Discovery Channel’s One Way Out and How Not to Become Shark Bait as well as Channel 4’s Balls of Steel and the Jonathan Ross Show.
Amanda previously explained that Jonathan is keeping upbeat despite his life-changing injuries.
She said: “His courage and his strength is something that I just aspire to be like.
“He’s just incredible, honestly, like so happy, just like a very happy, positive human being, just liquid sunshine. He’s amazing.”
She also revealed the stuntman sent her a voicemail before his surgery in which he told her the shocking news there was a 50% chance he would not make it.
