GMB's Susanna Reid gives classy response to troll after being called 'chunky'

Popular Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid has expertly shut down a Twitter troll who commented on her weight.

Susanna, 51, had shared an article written on several incidents of her wearing a similar outfit when interviewing Dame Joan Collins.

Susanna shared a light hearted thread highlighting the duo’s matching attire, when a man with 31 Twitter followers interjected.

The troll tweeted: “Have you put on some weight? You are looking very chunky,” to which Susanna simply replied: “Yes.”

Susanna quote tweeted the question, meaning her 873,000 followers could see it. Her fans were appalled, and jumped to Susanna’s defence.

Susanna dealt with the troll with a one-word reply

Comedian Shaparak Khorsandi replied to the troll: “Angry is lonely fella. Phone a friend.”

ITV presenter Katy Rickitt – wife of actor Adam Rickitt – wrote: “Why do people think this is ok?! I had one ‘oh isn’t your nose big from the side?’ When on Calendar… you look gorgeous Susanna and the fact this person is a cartoon pic says it all #stepawayfromthekeypad.”

Susanna and Dame Joan have a running joke about their outfits

A GMB viewer wrote: “It’s always the ones who daren’t even show their real faces in their profile pictures that think they can attack the appearances of others. Funny that…”

Susanna has spoken about her weight before, admitting that like many people she struggled with a “lockdown slump” and gained weight due to the pandemic.

Speaking to fitness guru Joe Wicks in November 2020, in preparation for another lockdown, Susanna asked for his advice.

This was Susanna’s first interview with Boris Johnson for five years.

“I’m going to be battling with the lockdown stone, it went on during lockdown one. I really don’t want another one going on during lockdown two,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Susanna continues to win praise for her 10 Downing Street interview earlier this week, where she expertly grilled Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the cost of living crisis.

The interview was highly anticipated, after he had avoided appearing on the programme, despite repeated requests, for over five years.

Piers has praised his former colleague

Dragons’ Den star Steven Bartlett called it a “masterful interview”.

A peak audience of 1.3million watched the one-on-one interview – the show’s highest peak audience since April 2021, when former GMB co-host Piers Morgan walked off the set.

Piers has praised his former co-host’s interview, saying of Johnson: “He just didn’t know what on earth was going on in that whole interview.”

“I thought Susanna skewered him beautifully and he just lost his way and lost his mind as he does so often.”
