Megan Barton Hanson has fired back at Instagram officials after more fans explained to the star she’d been “shadow banned” by chiefs.
The Love Island star, 28, vowed on on Monday (May 9) that she will quit the platform and her 1.6million followers to instead join TikTok this week after fans complained they could no longer search for her.
One fan told her during a Q&A session: “Looks like you’re shadow banned. Cannot search your account.”
Hitting back, Megan responded on the platform: “@instagram punishing me for having OnlyFans.”
She added: “I don’t even know how to use TikTok but I’m going to move over to that asap!
“Will be posting my first TikTok this week, wish me luck.”
It isn’t the first time that one of her followers has handed over evidence that they had been unable to find the reality babe on the app.
Just last month, Megan received a direct message from a concerned fan who warned her she’d been cast off by Instagram organisers.
The messenger, who was unnamed, first shared a screen shot to highlight what happened when typing Megan’s name into the search bar.
They added: “Hey lovely, Instagram are 100 percent shadow banning you as you don’t come up when I search for you, which means you aren’t being promoted in the algorithms either.
“It’s so sad x.”
Shadow banning, also known as stealth banning or ghost banning which happens when officials partially block areas from the online world.
It is thought to make users less prominent in hope that it will drive the account holder away from the site – which has clearly happened in Megan’s case.
Now furious, Megan hit back slamming the app for “punishing women”.
Sharing the information for the unknown messenger, Megan included: “@instagram just out here punishing women for making a career from their OWN bodies,” along with an annoyed face.
