BBC Breakfast turns awkward as star mocks Eurovision fan leaving viewers baffled

One BBC Breakfast star rubbed up viewers the wrong way during the latest instalment of the morning show.

On Saturday’s instalment of BBC Breakfast, roving reporter David Sillito made a sly dig to a Eurovision superfan and asked her if she “worries about herself”.

David, BBC Media and Arts Correspondent, was in Turin, Italy ahead of tonight’s (May 14) Eurovision Song Contest final.

Sam Ryder will be representing the UK with his song Space Man, and amid his upcoming performance David welcomed superfan Natalie, who believes we’re in for a chance of winning this year.

“Natalie, you are, how many days into your Eurovision experience so far?” he asked.

“In Turin I am three days in, in life I’m about six months in,” Natalie replied.

He then wanted to understand how much of Eurovision fan she was and asked her to “disrobe”.

Natalie then showed off her “brand new Eurovision tattoo” which is an ornate design on her arm that encompasses the Eurovision logos from 2020 and 2021.

David then asked if she took it seriously, to which she said: “I do, I do. It’s so fun to be here.”

Natalie then went on to gush about Sam Ryder and how much of an “amazing representative” he has been for the UK.

Speaking about what being a fanatic entails, Natalie gave viewers at home a glimpse of her recent schedule: “There are semi-finals, which I was at on Thursday, there are also rehearsals which are happening today, so I’ll be effectively watching the show twice.”

“So you’re going to watch the whole three hours twice today, live?” David said stunned.

Natalie nodded and smiled before adding: “Then probably again tomorrow.”

To which the reporter sternly asked: “Do you worry about yourself?”

David’s question was clearly a joke and Natalie laughed it off, but viewers at home had already picked up on the funny dig.

One fan took to Twitter to note the sly jibe, writing: “‘Do you worry about your self’ #eurovisonnutter #BBCBreakfast.”
