Kym Marsh teases huge Coronation Street return for Michelle Connor in ITV twist

Kym Marsh has promised a huge Coronation Street return for her character Michelle Connor.

It will have huge consequences for the soap after Michelle originally fled the cobbles after realising Steve McDonald had cheated on her and fathered baby Oliver with Leanne Battersby.

In 2019, after moving on with Robert Preston, history simply repeated itself when Robert found out he was the father of Vicky Jefferies’ child – and Michelle went on to scam him out of the bistro and flee to Ireland.

Last week, Kym recently appeared at the Pride of Manchester Awards to host the prize-giving ceremony for a whole host of worthy winners to honour the city’s heroes.

Among those receiving gongs were PixieBelle Sykes, aged just nine, who has endured four operations and lost sight in one eye after chemotherapy to treat a brain tumour – with her community rallying around to raise money for a new MRI scanner at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Speaking ahead of the awards, Kym told ITV News: “The winners are amazing – they really embody all the qualities that make us so proud to be from this incredible city.

“They are so selfless and courageous, and of course the kids will melt your heart. I can’t wait to meet them all.”

Appearing on the red carpet at the swish ceremony, Kym exclusively chatted to Daily Star about her future on the soap.

She said: “Well, who knows? I mean, I’m in Waterloo Road now – I’ve just started filming for that.

“But you know, I’ve got a real soft spot for Corrie, and one day I have no doubt I’ll set my feet on the cobbles again,” she vowed.

Kym is also about to become a grandmother for the second time aged just 45 – and admitted she gets told “all the time” that she’s simply too young for the role.

She gushed to Daily Star: “My son and his fiancé are here tonight. I’m absolutely delighted, it’s just wonderful news.

“What I love is my grandson has decided to call me Yaya, so we’ve decided that my new grandson is also going to call me Yaya – which is Greek for grandma.”

And the star also had a few words on the potential for a big reunion for her band Hear’Say, explaining that hopes aren’t high.

She said: “I know a few of us would like to [reunite], but timing and other people’s careers and that… so I’m not sure really.”

The MEN Pride of Manchester Awards, in partnership with TSB, will premiere on YouTube at 7pm on Tuesday 17th May.
