ITV fans baffled over Tom Cruise's involvement at The Queen's Jubilee Celebrations

ITV fans were dumbfounded that Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise was asked to be part of The Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations on Sunday May 16.

Host’s Phillip Schofield, 60, and Julie Etchingham, 52, seemed to be excited that the Top Gun star was in the vicinity and eagerly awaiting to speak with them about the upcoming June celebrations to honour Her Majesty The Queen.

As the ITV programme was about to cut to s short break, Julie excitedly said: “Just one of the biggest film stars on the planet has dropped by to say Hello, Tom Cruise will be here.”

Within minutes Twitter was flooded with questioning fans who wondered why the American actor was part of the production.

One person penned: “This @ITV jubilee celebration program looks absolutely pish. Why is Tom Cruise involved? Does he have a movie out #Jubilee #ITV. Not enough celebs have RSVP to the Jubilee invite!”

Fans were baffled that Tom appeared on the programme

A second echoed: “Erm let’s ask Tom Cruise!” #PlatinumJubilee #itv.”

While a third added: “Watching the Jubilee thing just to see what Tom Cruise is doing there.”

Even This Morning star Phillip Schofield seemed to be confused as to why the Hollywood actor had agreed to be part of the show.

Phillip quizzed: “What made you say yes to this one?”

Tom replied: “Well I was just very honoured, she’s just a woman that I greatly admire.

“I think she’s someone who has tremendous dignity and I admire her devotion and what she has accomplished has been historic.”

He added: “I just remember always as a kid, you know seeing photos of her and I’ve travelled around a lot as a kid and I came to England and started making movies here in 1982.

“I started producing movies before I’d even brought them here in 1982 because I liked the crews and the people and the generations of family that I have worked with and I love the history.

“I just have great respect for her, so we they asked I said ‘it would be my honour to be here.'”

Tom went on to reveal that he’d actually travelled to Windsor by foot and was completely mobbed by fans during his stroll.
