Davina McCall fans have praised The Masked Singer judge, after the star paid an emotional tribute to her friends and family following a charity event.
The TV personality recently completed a run for charity Lady Garden Foundation, which raises funds and awareness of women’s gynaecological cancers.
After completing the Lady Garden Challenge 2022, Davina revealed that her mother had ovarian cancer, and paid tribute to her friends and family who inspire her, in an emotional Instagram post.
The star shared a photograph of herself next to her friend after completing the run, captioning the post: “Yay we did it! Thank you for having us @ladygardenfoundation #ladygardenchallenge raising awareness and funds for women’s gynaecological cancers.
“My mum had ovarian cancer.
“Thought of you @janegodley as I ran…@anna_mcdonald1 you kept me going.
“Thank you for always making me get up and run.”
Fans and friends flocked to congratulate and praise Davina for raising awareness of diseases such as ovarian cancer, with friend Julia Bradbury saying: “Yay! And as an ambassador for @ovariancanceraction thank you.”
One fan said: “Fantastic, well done,” while a second added: “Ahh well done you too. Such an amazing foundation and charity.”
Fans also shared how much Davina’s charity and awareness work meant to them, with one saying: “Congratulations Davina…yet another fantastic achievement. My mummy had ovarian cancer. Thank you for running for people like her.”
A second added: “Way to go, fantastic Davina. 12 years ago I had ovarian cancer,” while a third said: “Very well done and please continue raising the profile for health and wellbeing for women in their menopausal years.”
Menopause Matters also commented “Well done” next to a heart emoji, in recognition of Davina’s work raising awareness of women’s health.
Davina has spoken openly about how the menopause affected her, and has become an advocate for raising awareness of women’s health in documentaries such as Sex, Myths and The Menopause.
In the documentary the star spoke about the fears she encountered when she was diagnosed as being in the perimenopause, the transitional period before the menopause, at the age of 44, saying in the documentary that she thought she would have to ‘give up presenting’.
However, Davina has credited Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) with changing her life for the better and alleviating her menopause symptoms.
