This Morning host Phillip Schofield shared a selfie with Hollywood star Tom Cruise at The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration on Sunday (May 15) during ITV’s special show.
Phil, 60, was hosting the Jubilee special show alongside Julie Etchingham, a change from his usual on-screen co-star Holly Willoughby, and there was a star-studded cast of celebrities in attendance.
Taking to his Instagram the legendary TV presenter shared a snap with actor Tom, 59, and they were both dressed in snazzy tuxedos at the ITV extravaganza event in honour of 70 years of Her Majesty being on the throne.
Phil captioned the picture: “Just checking our tuxedos before the show… as you do!! @tomcruise #platinumjubilee #topgunmaverick.”
The celebrity pair have crossed paths before but it is rare for Phil to share a snap with the dapper Hollywood actor.
Fans were quick to share their joy at the snap of the two famous faces, one wrote: “Legend… meet legend…”
Another added: “Very cool. Did Tom ask for the selfie?”
In a conversation between the pair on Sunday’s special show, Phil quizzed Tom: “What made you say yes to this one?”
Tom answered: “Well, how can you, I was just very honoured…
“She’s just a woman that I greatly admire, I think she’s someone who has tremendous dignity and I admire her devotion.
“What she has accomplished has been historic and I just remember always as a kid seeing photos of her, I travelled a lot as a kid and I came to England, started making movies here in 1982.
“I love the history, I just have great respect for her, so when they asked, I instantly said: ‘It would be my honour to be here.'”
Fans were, however, confused about the Top Gun star’s involvement at the Queen’s celebrations, one took to Twitter and wrote: “This @ITV jubilee celebration program looks absolutely pish. Why is Tom Cruise involved? Does he have a movie out #Jubilee #ITV. Not enough celebs have RSVP to the Jubilee invite!”
A second added: “Watching the Jubilee thing just to see what Tom Cruise is doing there.”
Plans for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations are well underway including a 70-plane flypast over Buckingham Palace organised by the Army, RAF and Royal Navy.
Members of the Royal Family will be able to look on at the display from the balcony of Buckingham Palace though Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew will all miss out on the display.
Though Sunday’s event was commemorative of The Queen, those in attendance were enamoured with the presence of Tom Cruise and aside from Phil’s fun snap with the actor, Alan Titchmarsh was among those in awe of the actor.

Phil said to gardening expert Alan at the start of the show: “I just wanted to make sure you got your selfie!”
Alan replied: “I did! My wife said to me, she’s only ever asked for two selfies. One was Hayley Mills, which I got as I interviewed Hayley a while ago.
“We’re asked for selfies all the time, which is lovely and it’s not a problem, I’m a bit reluctant to ask for them myself.
“She said: ‘If you get a selfie of you and Tom Cruise, I’ll take the grandchildren off the screensaver!'”
