BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker paid a sweet tribute to his good pal Carol Kirkwood as she was forced to miss his final day at the BBC.
Dan branded BBC weather star Carol the “backbone” of Breakfast during his last ever programme on Tuesday morning (May 17), which he hosted alongside his co-star Sally Nugent.
The fun-filled farewell show saw Dan treated to gushing tributes from his BBC colleagues such as Sally, and he even got surprised by his good pal and former Breakfast co-host Louise Minchin.
However, Dan wanted to take a moment to show his appreciation for Scottish star and national TV treasure Carol, whom he called a “true friend”.
The TV star revealed Carol was unable to be there in the studio – after the weather expert was absent from BBC Breakfast earlier this week.
“I know Carol can’t be here today, but she, we all know, is the backbone of this programme and we love her to bits. She’s been a true friend from the very first moment I sat here.”
