Dan Walker sparks security concern as he starts new Channel 5 News job

Dan Walker has proved there is no rest for the wicked as he headed over to his new offices at Channel 5 to start his new job.

The ex-BBC Breakfast presenter has dived straight in at the deep end it would seem, having only taken a few days off of work after stepping down from his former role just last week.

Enjoying a tour around his new headquarters, Dan explained his first day wasn’t without its faults.

Having met his new team and working out where the facilities were Dan seemed to be off to a great start until he attempted to get to grips with the new email system.

According to the Strictly Come Dancing star he received a response from their internal back office to flag that his account had been a “security risk”.

Speaking to the camera about his first few days, Dan said: “Hello, first few days in the new job and it’s quite nice here, they’re all lovely, I’ve had a look around the studio, met everybody in the office and found out where the toilet is.”

Pointing the camera at the loo, he commented: “There it is B301, very important.

“I’ve also got my new email which is always exciting and logged into the system and then was immediately cast out into the darkness because I got an email to say that I was a ‘security risk’

“So once that’s been sorted, I’ll be allowed to send emails from my new account as well.”

The former Strictly Come Dancing star went on to talk about his first official day on-air with the channel which has not yet been formally announced.

However, fans hoping for some early insight can think again as Dan was remaining tight-lipped on the situation.

He updated: “Lots of people asking when I actually start. I’m not allowed to tell you. I do know but I have to wait for it to be officially announced and then I can go ‘woo’.”

Dan went on to add: “But we’re going to be on at five O’Clock every day at five, on FIVE. I think that’s nice and catchy and that we should use that.

“I’m really looking forward to it. I miss everybody at the BBC but this is a new life now with a new toilet and we’re ready to go, see you soon, have a lovely Tuesday, goodbye.”
