Peter Kay to make major comeback to the stage six years after cancelling tour

Comedian Peter Kay is in talks to make his comeback to the stage, with insiders believing he’ll instantly sell out two of the country’s biggest arenas.

Peter, 48, last performed a stand-up gig on stage 14 years ago, with his tour in 2018 cancelled with the star saying “personal reasons” were behind the decision.

Now, sources have claimed that Peter is planning a huge new stage show that will delight over 23,000 fans in packed arenas up and down the nation.

An insider said: “He has lined up huge venues across the country including in Manchester, London and Birmingham and is hoping to announce it in September.”

They went on to tell The Sun: “Peter has not performed a live stand-up set on a big stage in well over a decade now but he could not be more ready to get back out there.”

Since his last tour in 2011, the dad-of-one has only appeared at special events and has been rarely seen by his fiercely loyal fans over the past decade.

The news comes just months after Peter appeared at a charity Question and Answer in Manchester for a brain cancer patient, Laura Nuttall.

He also made a subtle appearance, DJ’ing at a Dance For Life event before leaving audiences at the recent Ivor Novello Awards stunned when he appeared on stage.

Fellow comedian Jason Manford teased that Peter could be returning to the stage as he urged fans to “keep an eye out” for the funnyman.

Speaking on Dublin radio station FM104’s Strawberry Alarm Clock show, Jason said: “He’s great, Pete. We’ve known each other a long time, it must be 25 years. It’s been a hell of a ride.

“He’s just an absolute legend isn’t he? What a treasure. Hopefully back himself soon, doing stand-up, so keep your eye out for his tour. Not that he needs you to buy a ticket as much as I do.”

Pete was set to go on tour back in 2018, but cancelled all 100 dates despite successfully selling out arenas for his Peter Kay Live Arena Tour months before he was set to step on stage due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.
