Coronation Street's Sally Carman jokes she 'can't stand' on-screen hubby in sweet pic

Coronation Street fan-favourite Sally Carman has shared a sweet snap with her 44,000 Twitter followers.

In the pic, Sally, 41, who plays mechanic Abi Franklin, smiles at her beaming ITV co-star Michael Le Vell, 57, who plays her on screen husband Kevin Webster.

Sally cheekily captioned the pic: “Can’t stand him.”

Fans were quick to give feedback to Sally, with one tweeting: “Hi Sally. I have loved Abi and the life she has been through. I just wondered, what is it like working with your real life partner? You look stunning in this photo, a long way from oil and overalls. Good luck in your future stories and hope you get baby Alfie back xxx.”

A world away from Weatherfield’s woes

Sally responded : “Hi Josie, I don’t like working with him because he makes me laugh too much!”

Sally’s real-life partner Joe Duttine plays Tim Metcalfe in the ITV soap.

Another fan responded to Sally’s picture, saying: “I think Abbie is the most interesting character on the street – complex and human. Beautifully, and totally convincingly played by you. Bravo!”

Kevin and Abi have reunited

A third viewer said: “Kevin and Abi are a match made in heaven looking forward to them teaming up against Imran next week”

Since joining Coronation Street in 2017 and being paired with long term cast member Michael – who has been on the show since 1983 – Sally’s character has been at the heart of the drama.

From battling her drug demons to tragically losing her son Seb in a brutal hate crime, Abi has been through it all.

Sally’s partner Joe is also a Corrie favourite

She is currently planning to flee the country with her baby son Alfie, and viewers have just seen Abi’s estranged husband Kevin admit to her that he never stopped loving her.

This coming week’s special BGT week of episodes – screening at 7.30pm nightly – will see the situation between Abi and baby Alfie’s father Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) spiral out of control.

Meanwhile, Sally is nominated in the Best Leading Performer at the upcoming, in-person, British Soap Awards.
