Comedian David Walliams has become a household name in recent times.
He has been involved in the British entertainment industry for a number of years and has had several successful careers which have helped build his incredible fortune of around £17 million.
Not only is he one of the UK’s biggest names in comedy, the 50-year-old has been a judge on Britain’s Got Talent since 2012.
He appears on the ITV show with Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.
As well as being a popular judge, David is a best-selling children’s author, having written books such as Gangsta Granny and Mr Stink.
David was once part of one of the most talked about couples in showbiz, having been married to model Lara Stone, 38.
However, the couple announced their shock separation after just five years of marriage.
Whirlwind romance
Lara and David started dating in 2009 after reportedly meeting at a Chelsea football match.
Lara has said that she was nervous for their first date but soon knew they shared a similar sense of humour.
Speaking to Dutch Vogue, she said: “I was in the cab home afterward and thought, I should text him and thank him for dinner. When I did, he texted back, ‘Who’s this?'”
The Little Britain Star popped the question in January 2010 and they then married in London’s Claridge’s hotel.
In late 2012 the pair announced they were having a baby who was born the following year.
All seemed well for the couple.
Messy divorce
The pair, who share son Alfred together, announced their split in 2015 and went their separate ways.
Talk of a divorce between them first emerged just weeks after they announced they were taking time out of their relationship.
A source told the Daily Mirror at the time that the supermodel, who is 12 years David’s junior, had left their North London home with Alfred and their Border Terrier Bert.
They said she had no intention of returning to the marital home to try and make the marriage work.
Lara agreed to take the blame in the divorce proceedings as David cited her “unreasonable behaviour” as grounds for divorce.
According to insiders, it was Lara who wanted to split, leaving David devastated.
One source told The Sun: “David didn’t want to divorce and desperately hoped they could work things out.
“But Lara was insistent and David accepted for the sake of Alfred.”
Crossdressing turmoil
Whilst there is no suggestion that David cross-dresses in real life, a friend of Lara’s reportedly told The Sun that his on-screen dressing up proved too much for the model.
David often dressed up as women during his comedic antics.
The source said: “She didn’t really understand the humour of it.”
Lara also apparently disliked her husband’s camp persona which caused issues for their marriage.
The source said: “It had become clear Lara didn’t like the constant talk about David being camp.
“She got tired of it being referenced all the time, especially when David seemed to play up to it in various photoshoots or TV sketches.”
Terrifying fame
Lara has admitted that she found the fame that came with dating David difficult to cope with.
The Dutch model has her own career in the spotlight, but being with David was another level of attention she wasn’t ready for.
She told Dutch Vogue: “I’d been at his house and was walking back to the Tube and this car was driving next to me and they were taking pictures the whole time.
“It was just so bewildering and terrifying.”
Simon Cowell ‘jealousy’
In an interview with Jonathan Ross, David joked that wife Lara was envious of the time he spent with the music mogul.
He said: “Lara is jealous because every time I come back from work I’m ‘Oh, guess what Simon did today’.”
David also joked that he had started calling his wife Simon when they were in bed.
He said: “The first few times she didn’t mind, but then wearing the mask…”
