Rapper Hypo – real name Lamar Jackson – has died in a fatal stabbing following a “trivial row”, reports have emerged.
The Mashtown Hackney star was best known for his music career, and was romantically linked to singer Emeli Sande.
Though his family have not confirmed the death, tributes have been pouring in on social media after it emerged that some witnesses had ‘filmed’ the killing.
Police have not yet named the deceased, though have confirmed a murder investigation is underway after a man in his 30s died just after midnight on June 3 at Ashton Town Playing Fields, in Chigwell Road, Woodford Green.
Hypo had recently celebrated his birthday alongside his twin sister, while he is also believed to have gotten engaged last week.
One fan posted: “Whoever is sending the video of Hypo around is a sick & twisted individual.”
As another echoed: “Whoever recorded it is heartless. R.I.P Hypo.”
A third tweeted: “RIP Hypo was a pioneer in the industry. Met him a couple times and he was a clean hearted guy. This world is crazy. RIP young king.”
“This whole Hypo news is mad f***ed. In his Instagram story he was just living his best life and having fun, later the same day his taken was taken from him. What a sad tragedy,” someone else said.
The horrific footage shared online showed paramedics battling to save the rapper’s life after a party in Redbridge, with MyLondon reporting that police believe that other guests filmed a man being stabbed, while others might have unwittingly caught the incident on camera.
Authorities have now appealed for anyone with footage or information to come forward, the publication confirmed.
Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith, told MyLondon: “This man was attacked at a party and we know that a large number of people would have been in attendance. I would urge anyone who is yet to speak with us to come forward and let us know what you saw.
“It is possible that events leading up to the stabbing, and perhaps the murder itself, were captured on people’s phones. Please take a look and call us. It is vital that we establish what happened.”
It came just hours after his last social media posts, with Hypo’s Instagram Stories showing him arriving at the event by car and enjoying himself inside.
In 2016, it emerged that Hypo was dating Emeli Sande, with a source telling The Sun: “Emeli was in a bad place when she split from Adam but time is a healer and she really likes Hypo.
“They started dating earlier this year after being introduced by mutual friends. It’s only her second relationship so she’s been cautious.
“But Emeli has really clicked with him and they even travelled to Jamaica together in March. Things have flourished between them.”
The pair also worked together on record label Hard Copy alongside the late Jamal Edwards, after Hypo originally found fame alongside the likes of Asco and Margs in the Mashtown group.
