Deborah James won't die over Jubilee as she doesn't want 'Meghan Markle stealing thunder'

BBC presenter Deborah James has spent her last days campaigning to raise awareness about her cancer battle.

She was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016 and has now moved back in with her parents in Woking to spend her last days.

Deborah, 40, has stayed positive about her cancer battle and joked that she refused to die over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.

She cheekily added that she didn’t want former senior royals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK spoiling her moment.

The pair have come back to London to take part in the Platinum Jubilee and to introduce their daughter Lilbet to Harry’s grandmother.

She told The Sun: “I’m determined not to die over the Jubilee weekend, I don’t want Meghan stealing my thunder.

“I haven’t worked so hard to raise cancer awareness and money to help find a cure, only to miss out on another front page when I go.”

The Queen wished her great-granddaughter a happy birthday as she turned one, with Meghan and Harry skipping the Jubilee to celebrate the special day in private.

She added: “Dying is really hard. I’ve been consumed by anger this week, in all honesty, I’ve been a real b***h.

“I keep shouting at people and pushing them away. I’m angry at what’s happening to me. I don’t want to die.”

Deborah has managed to raise a whopping £6.5million from her bowel cancer fundraising, only three weeks after revealing she was having end-of-life care.

She originally launched it with the initial target of £250,000 but thanks to the generosity of fans and her inspiring actions, she earned over 26 times the amount.

Deborah has also launched an In The Style collection, been made a Dame and will also be releasing a book with information about her battle.

She has been married to husband Sebastian since 2008 and they share kids Hugo, 14 and Eloise, 12.
