Coronation Street fans fuming as they slam 'boring and lazy' exam storyline

Coronation Street fans fumed at the ongoing exam plot on the hit ITV soap – with many calling for show bosses to scrap the student storyline altogether.

Corrie revisited exam season on Wednesday night (June 8), where panicked student Summer Spellman cheated in her A Level exam.

Summer has been desperate to get into Oxford University, but she’s been struggling to cope with the immense pressure of achieving the top grades needed in her exams.

In a desperate bid to ensure she succeeded in her final exam, Summer decided to smuggle in the homemade revision cards Aadi gave to her at lunch.

Corrie fans said Summer’s exam storyline was getting “Boring”

Disaster strikes when she accidentally drops the revision cards onto the floor in the exam hall – but when the invigilator find the cards, she thinks Aadi is the one cheating as she spots his handwriting on the cards.

However, many Corrie fans were bored by the continuing exam storyline and called for it to be abandoned on Twitter.

One moaned: “Summer and her exams are boring the f**k out of me ffs how much more of this mind numbing storyline are we gonna take?”

A third said: “Oh great, the Summer doing exams storyline has been renewed for another million years cause of them bl**dy cards.”

A fourth commented: “Please tell me Summer is doing a gap year because I really need this exam storyline to come to an end!”

A fifth added: “This exam/Summer storyline is beyond boring now!”

Later on, Summer feels guilty about Aadi getting into trouble and insists she’ll confess it was her that was cheating in the exam.

However, Aadi tells Summer he’s happy to take the fall for her as failing the exam won’t have major consequences for him who is set to go into business with his father.

By the end of the episode, Summer decided against coming clean, leaving Aadi out to dry.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV
