Coronation Street star Julia Goulding revealed her excitement over her surprise pregnancy at the British Soap Awards yesterday evening.
The 37-year-old actress walked the red carpet in a long black evening gown with Bardot sleeves as she cradled her baby bump.
She spoke to the Daily Mirror about her character, Shona Ramsey, and her storylines, discussing an upcoming “crisis” for the Platts, and how it will impact Shona’s relationship with David.
She touched on the couple’s struggles with Max and how it had been intense for the pair.
When asked about her second pregnancy with husband Ben Silver, the actress beamed that she was “very excited, of course!”
On speaking about Corrie and the impact Audrey’s upcoming storyline will have on David and Shona, Julia said: “I think David and Shona’s dynamic is that when one of them is in crisis the other one is a bit of a backbone, so I think that’s probably where Shona will be.
“Not without Shona making some rude and inappropriate comments along the way, I imagine!”
Shona and David’s relationship has had its fair share of trials and tribulations, with Shona going through massive changes on the soap, including being shot in 2019, and subsequently forgetting who David was due to memory loss.

The pair eventually made it through, with Shona falling back in love with him.
“I think where’s she settled right now is wonderful,” she said. “There are some elements of the old Shona there with hints of the new Shona there as well. So it’s a really nice contrast. Also it is so much fun to be that blunt! Because I couldn’t be in real life!
“All couples go through harder times and Max has been quite intense on both of them. Facing things together – I think that’s why it works best. So long may that continue, but who knows! You never know in the world of soap!”
