Honey Ross fumes as Instagram deletes her topless snap, brands move 'fatphobic'

Jonathan Ross’ daughter Honey has been left fuming at Instagram after one of her topless snaps was taken down.

A warning flagged to her account showed that the snap of Honey with a pal sitting topless on the beach had been removed for violating nudity guidelines – despite not showing anything more than her bare back.

Official community guidelines state that snaps showing “sexual intercourse, genitals and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks” aren’t allowed on the site, including “some photos of female nipples”.

However, Honey’s post featured none of these things, as she donned a pair of black bikini bottoms to make sure her bum was covered and turned away from the camera – calling out Love Island for its lack of body type diversity.

Honey has now branded the move “fatphobic”, posting on her Instagram Stories: “They hate to see a girl boss winning. It’s a non-sexual holiday photo, the only difference is I’m fat.

“I could go and find a million examples of thin equivalents of photos like this that are still up and okay, but honestly I’m so tired. Not an anus in sight I’ll add!

“I don’t even need to find an example, Love Island is on TV right now. Insta if rife with photos of people in bikinis and swimwear.

“My point again shown, I wouldn’t be invited on or ever go on a show like that, as the world is still so deeply fatphobic. My body is somehow considered more sexualised or vulgar because it’s considered outside of the norm.”

She added: “My body is valid. My body has kept me alive. I’m going to wear a bikini on holiday and sun bathe (lathered in SPF) topless. Like people have done on European holiday postcards for years and years.”

Honey hit out at the social media platform

Posting the topless snap, which saw Honey don a pair of black bikini bottoms to show off her tattoos, she wrote: “There’s nothing wrong with this. It’s a body, on a beach, in summer.”

The body positivity activist was keen to be a role model for other women, too, as she added: “There’s nothing wrong with yours either if you find yourself sat at home watching Love Island this summer, caught in a sea of comparison.

“I’m more than happy to live my life without Instagram but it’s just f***ing bleak that bodies outside of what Mark Zuckerberg deems acceptable will continue to dwindle from their fleeting visit to the mainstream because of censorship.”

Honey then said she’ll be presenting a podcast episode on the topic, adding that she doesn’t want to “slam” Love Island as she knows a handful of “wise and compassionate souls” from the programme.

She labelled the platform fatphobic

The star went on: “It is moments like this though that I seethe thinking about the people who commandeered the body positivity movement.

“Stole it from people who actually needed the safe space. The community. The representation.

“We saw you hunched over gathering stretchy skin to pretend it was a roll, and we see you now, as you slowly remove plus size sections from your brand.”

She clarified: “Also please know I’m not upset, or angry. Just exhausted by it. When I was a bit younger I had endless fight in me for this, but after the last two years, mama is tired.

“I just want to be hot and fat in peace.”
