Two Netflix stars dead and six injured as van carrying crew flips on road

Two actors – Raymundo Garduno Cruz and Juan Francisco Gonzalez Aguilar, also known as Paco Mufote – have died after a horror crash which saw six other crew members also injured.

The stars were set to appear in a new Netflix show called The Chosen One, which is an adaptation of a comic book series by Mark Millar and Peter Gross.

The two died after a horror crash which saw the vehicle they were travelling in flip in a desert area.

According to local media in Mexico, six other cast and crew members were also injured in the smash.

They were travelling near Mulege on the Baja California Sur peninsula.

The crash reportedly happened on Thursday (June 16) after the crew had been working in the nearby Santa Rosalia.

The upcoming series follows a 12-year-old boy who learns he is the returned Jesus Christ and, according to a synopsis, is “destined to save humankind”.

While it will stream on Netflix, it is being produced by an independent company.

According to Tomatazos, the crew had been complaining about the method of transportation they had been given.

Filmmaker Rick Zazueta has since spoken out against Netflix and the production company Redrum, blaming them for the awful accident.

He said in a statement (translated from Spanish): “This is a call to the authorities to investigate the death of two Baja Californian talents, Paco Mufote and Raymundo Garduño.

“People close to this production (Redrum) have known for weeks that the logistics have been terrible. The actors have not stopped complaining about how badly they are being treated specifically in terms of transportation and logistics.

“Neyflix also has blood on its hands, the multi-million dollar company chose to work outside the ANDA actors’ union and made the contract with those now guilty of these deaths.”

Netflix told Daily Star: “We’re sad to confirm that two cast members have passed away after a tragic accident in transit from Santa Rosalía to the local airport. Two other cast members and four crew members were injured but remain stable. Investigations are ongoing on the reasons for the accident, and production was paused for a few days out of respect for the victims. Our thoughts are with them and their family at this time.”
