The One Show in major presenter shake-up as Alex Jones is replaced by Gabby Logan

The One Show viewers were in store for a surprise as they tuned in for their BBC favourite to find that Alex Jones had been replaced on Monday’s episode (June 20).

Gabby Logan instead took to the green sofa alongside football pundit Jermaine Jenas to co-host the popular 7pm programme.

Alex’s absence was not addressed by stand-in star Gabby or her usual co-star as they kicked off the show with actor Steve Carell.

Fans were so elated that the 40 Year Old Virgin star was on the show that Alex’s unexplained non-attendance seemed to go unnoticed.

But it’s a different format to the way the BBC One show usually goes.

Alex was missing from the programme

Although Alex wasn’t in the hosting chair on this occasion, she did play a vital role on tonight’s programme.

The presenter formed part of the judging panel who were responsible for deciding who would win this years BBC’s Young Reporter award.

On the deciding panel was BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty, Newsbeat’s Roisin Hasting and Nikki Fox from The One Show.

BBC News at Ten star Huge Edwards was also a champion supporting Alex in delivering the news to a young 15-year-old.

Lauren from Newcastle had no idea that her story idea about her grandma who suffered from alzheimer’s and how it affects the entire family – not just the person suffering.

The teen had no idea that her story had been so empowering – touching every single person on the judging panel.

Lauren was invited back for a chat with Alex and Hugh thinking she’d been given a second interview but instead, the famous BBC star’s announced she had taken first prize.

Over video link, Hugh said: “Having looked at all of the ideas that you’ve got and the way that you have put them together, we’ve come to a view and I’m going to ask Alex to tell you.

Alex added: “Yes Lauren, congratulations you are one of the winner of the BBC’s Young Reporter Of The Year Competition 2022.”

With a huge smile, Laura excitedly chirped back: “Thank you.”
