Bill Cosby ordered to pay £400k after being found liable of sexually assaulting teen

Bill Cosby has been found liable of a historical sexual assault by a civil jury and has been ordered to pay $500,000 (£408,000) in damages.

The jury found him liable of a historic sexual assault, but he will not face jail time.

The 84-year-old was sued by Judy Huth who said he forced her to perform a sex act on him when she was 16 at the Playboy Mansion in 1975.

Huth first sued Cosby in 2014 for sexual battery and two other claims of assault.

The jury began deliberating last Thursday (June 16) at the Los Angeles Superior Court, after hearing Huth’s account over the course of 10 days.

She told the jury that she had met Cosby in a park in San Marino, California, with her friend Donna Samuelson.

The star invited the pair to his tennis club and then his home, where he gave them alcohol.

According to Huth, Cosby then told the girls to follow him in their car to the Playboy Mansion.

It was in one of the bedrooms of the mansion where she was forced to perform a sex act on him.

Cosby did not testify, and he was not in the courtroom when the message was read out.

His lawyers hit back, claiming Huth’s account was “a complete and utter fabrication” and that her motive was to make money.

Huth is not the first woman who has accused the comedian of sexual misconduct, however it is the first civil case accusing Cosby of sexual assault to have reached trial.

He previously spent time in jail due to previous criminal trials and a now-vacated 2018 conviction for the 2004 rape of Andrea Constand.
