Carol Kirkwood pays sweet tribute to BBC co-worker ahead of 'emotional' exit

BBC presenter Carol Kirkwood has written a lovely tribute to a colleague who is set to depart the organisation.

The 60-year-old took to Twitter this morning to wish her colleague Mark Murphy well in his new career as he leaves his breakfast show on BBC Suffolk.

The weather presenter credited her colleague for being “such a superstar”, as he moves on to the next stage of his career.

She penned: “Just want to wish my lovely colleague @MarkGlennMurphy on @BBCSuffolk all the very best!

Carol’s lovely message to Mark

“You are such a superstar! And just think….no more 3am alarm calls!! Take care Mark.”

Mark was the breakfast presenter on BBC Radio Suffolk as well as being a multi award-winning presenter and producer at the BBC.

As the Express reports, the presenter broke his silence last night ahead of his last day hosting his morning show on BBC Radio Suffolk, as he bid an emotional farewell.

Along with a promotional post for the show, he wrote on Instagram: “I thought I’d stick this up one last time.

“It’s going to be an emotional day tomorrow as I hand the breakfast show over to someone else.

“I’ve loved every minute and I’ll miss it so much but the time is right to change.

“Thank you to you for listening and to everyone I’ve worked with over the years.

“The new show starts on July 9th, I do hope you’ll give it a go.”

Mark isn’t the only colleague that Carol has lost recently – Dan Walker left BBC Breakfast earlier this year to move to Channel 5.

On Wednesday morning, the weather presenter took to Twitter to share some snaps of where viewers could expect to see her during the show.

Showing a series of gorgeous flowers, Carol captioned the images; ” Good morning from @TowerOfLondon We are here this morning to show you the fabulous Superbloom in honour of her Majesty the Queen‘s Platinum Jubilee @BBCBreakfast”

Admiring the natural beauty, Dan jumped on the post to comment on the flowers.

He simply wrote: “Gorgeous.”

His former colleague playfully wrote back: “You are not too shabby yourself honey!, followed by two winking emojis and one emoji blowing a kiss.

Naturally, they were told to ‘get a room’ by followers!
