Love Island's Indiyah Polack nearly joined 2021 cast but missed out on ITV show

Love Island star Indiyah Polack has quickly become a fan favourite during this year’s series of the ITV dating show.

But fans might be surprised to find out she could have starred in last year’s series as it’s been revealed she was initially in the running for the hit dating programme.

In 2021, Love Island received a record number of applications from wannabe islanders, and show bosses reportedly interviewed over 1,000 candidates before making their final decisions.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Indiyah’s PR agency said she was put forward as a possible contestant for the TV villa but didn’t end up in the final cast.

Account Executive Shyon Gredley from Represent London PR confirmed Indiyah had been considered as a castmate by producers, but unfortunately things didn’t work out in the end.

However, he backs the 23-year-old model to go all the way and win the show this year, and potentially with her new villa flame Irish hunk Dami Hope.

Shyon was delighted with how the brunette beauty was coping with the show, telling us she was ‘staying true to herself’ in front of the cameras.

He said Indiyah is hoping to pursue modelling after the series – and that we could expect her to embark on a podcasting career in the future – following the likes of Kem Cetinay who hosts the Morning After podcast.

When asked if he thought Indiyah could form any friendships with past Love Island stars, Shyon was confident she would and pointed out how 2019 winner Amber Gill and Chloe Burrows have showed their support for her on social media.
