Love Island stars Jess and Eve Gale have spoken exclusively to Daily Star during a Facebook Live with Carly Hacon about their time on the show and revealed the unusual rules put in place by the producers.
Former winner Millie Court, who won the 2021 series with her partner Liam Reardon, has said that whilst cleaners descended upon the villa, the islanders were not allowed inside for up to three hours at a time and were forced to “use a stinky loo outside”.
The sisters confirmed the truth and Jess began: “I remember I once went to the toilet in the middle of the night. In our villa, you had to walk through the dressing room and into the toilet, there were loads of people and I was delirious because it was probably about 3am. Loads of cleaners there, moving all of our stuff.”

Many former contestants have revealed that the producers are very secretive with the islanders, who are not allowed to know the time whilst they are living inside the villa.

Jess spoke about the disorientating experience and admitted she once broke the rules.
She confessed: “I was taking tablets and stuff so a medic would come in for me and I would sneakily ask the medic what the time was. I think that they didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to know the time, so they’d say [the time] and I didn’t know what to do with that information afterwards.”
When asked whether the islanders were allowed to dash off to the loo whenever they liked, Jess said that she “got up without asking” and that they “couldn’t stop her”.
If contestants wanted to “wash their hair” and “have a shower” they couldn’t just “randomly do so”, but instead had to wait for a specific time.
Eve also revealed that if she tried to sneak off they would ask her to return to a certain room and would sometimes “deny” them a trip to the toilet.
Eve admitted that during a major event in the villa, they would keep them in their places for “five more minutes” if the stars tried to go to the bathroom.
Jess opened up and revealed that before islanders enter the famous house, suitcases are “completely emptied” for security reasons as there are “some things” they aren’t allowed to bring in with them.
Eve noted: “Lunch and dinner are the only times you aren’t on camera, so sometimes they separate boys and girls. So, because it’s not on camera, you’re not supposed to speak about anything to do with the show.”
She continued on and said that it was “quite hard” not to discuss recent events and if producers heard them whispering, they would “break up” the conversation.
Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2
