Love Island fans were left fuming after Jay Younger picked Paige Thorne, who was happily coupled up with Jacques O’Neill.
However, some noticed that he didn’t receive much backlash from the islanders or viewers compared to when Danica Taylor chose Luca Bish.
Upon Danica’s arrival, Luca showed her around the villa and she seemed interested in him, so at the following recoupling she decided to “take a risk” by poaching him from Gemma Owen, which she later said “didn’t pay off”.

She urged Luca that “in a couple of days” he might change his mind, but he has since spent all his time with Gemma and slept in the doghouse instead of with Danica.
There was uproar when that recoupling occurred and many viewers called out Danica for her choice, but there was noticeably less comments when Jay made his decision.

Fans turned to Twitter and commented on the unfair response to the individual recouplings.
One viewer tweeted: “People were so mad when Danica chose Luca, even when he was in a couple. Why didn’t they have the same energy for Jay when he chose Paige?”
A furious fan also added: “Danica picks Luca: You witch! Jay picks Paige: Follow your heart. You all irritate me.”

Fans rushed to defend Danica and said that she is having a “spell of bad luck” and sympathised with the islander.
People have picked up on Paige’s attitude towards Jay and commended her for being so welcoming.
One wrote: “Paige is being so nice and friendly towards Jay. That’s how it should be. I still remember Luca being such a b**** towards Danica when she chose him.”
An eagle-eyed viewer also added that Paige is “very respectful” towards Jay, but “her heart is still with Jacques” and compared her warm nature to Luca’s cold attitude when he was picked by Danica.

Elsewhere in the episode, Tasha told newcomer Charlie that the “ball was in his court,” but he also had eyes for Ekin-Su.
He had invited both girls on a hot tub date which consequently left Tasha feeling conflicted towards her current partner Andrew.
Charlie chose Ekin-Su at the recoupling, seemingly to Tasha’s relief as a clip of her sighing was shown.
An understandably upset Andrew tried to tend to her throughout the night and made multiple advances to comfort her, but was rejected by Tasha until they fell asleep.
