Of course there was the iconic Amy-Curtis twist.

Amy Hart had professed her love for partner Curtis Pritchard while she was in Casa Amor and was about to say those three magic words to him

He then explained that he had kissed another woman while Amy was away and, shortly after their split, admitted his attraction to bombshell Maura Higgins.

Sadly there was no coming back from this and after the famous line ”I was coming back here to tell you that I loved you’ Amy and Curtis were officially over.

Ultimately, Amy left the villa while Curtis managed to fly straight to the final.

We all remember Shaughna Phillips being ice cold when Callum Jones returned from Casa Amor with another girl.

The Islander had remained loyal to her partner Callum whilst he recoupled in Casa Amor.

Shaughna saved face by coming out with the classic one liner ‘congrats, hun’ which no doubt sent shivers down Callum’s spine.

However, Shaughna has given the pair credit where its due, with Callum and his Casa Amor partner Molly Smith still dating two-and-a-half years on.

This was as dramatic as Love Island comes.

After Toby Aromolaran jumped ship and recoupled, Hugo Hammond coupled with Chloe Burrows and called Toby out for it in his speech.

The savage scenes caused a stir between Hugo and Toby, though Chloe was certainly on board with it.

However, the feud didn’t last long, particularly after Chloe decided to rekindle her romance with Toby.

Bombshell Maura Higgins was controversial from the beginning but fans really fell in love with the feisty beauty when she stood up for herself having heard the boys talking.

New boy Tom Walker won himself an night in the hideaway with the Irish beauty but blew it for himself when he said ‘lets see if she’s all mouth and no action’ and Maura heard him.

Maura politely told Tom to “go f*** yourself”, as they embarked in a wild feud which captivated attention for the night.

Although they made up soon after, their romance wasn’t to be and the pair ultimately parted ways.

Fans were devastated when Michael Griffiths ditched his loyalty to Amber Gill in Casa Amor.

He recoupled with Joanna Chimonides leaving poor Amber stood alone at the fire pit – after her co-stars convinced her that her beau was to be trusted.

The biggest twist of last year was when Liam Reardon returned to Millie Court after cheating in Casa Amor.

Liam had shown interest in Lillie Haynes and kissed her in the spin off villa.

The ultimate jaw-drop was when Lillie spoke up at the recoupling to tell the islanders she was “shocked” that she would be getting sent home after having a connection with Liam.

Despite Liam’s betrayal, the pair soon worked out their kinks and went on to win the show – and are still happily together now.

One of the biggest twists was Zara Holland losing her Miss GB title for having sex in TV.

Zara got down and dirty under the sheets with Alex Bowen who is now married to a different Islander Olivia.

Pageant bosses stripped Zara of her title days later, saying that they believed her decision to sleep with Alex on TV meant she was not “a positive role model” and “did not uphold the responsibility expected of the title”.

When Zara was given the news by Love Island producers, she broke down in tears.

Its fair to say every series of Love Island has had its own drama, we can’t wait to the twists and turn that are yet to come for this years series.

Love Island will continue tonight at 9 pm on ITV 2.
