This Morning comp winner breaks down in tears as Holly and Phil double jackpot

This Morning took a different turn on Thursday morning as one lucky winner was overwhelmed by their competition win.

As part of the daily competition Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby did their spin to win in the forest – with Holly’s balls replaced for pinecones.

But as a winner was called live on air they decided to opt for the wheel over the cones, and it was a good job they did as they bagged the top prize.

The lucky winner landed the jackpot prize of £3,000 and one very happy viewer thanked the pair profusely, but their gratitude soon turned to tears.

Holly said: “I think she’s feeling overwhelmed.”

Phil said: “Tell us about you and how things are going at the moment and why you’ve got so emotional here.”

As she started bawling, Holly and Phil asked her what she thinks she’ll spend the money on, prompting her to tell the pair that she has a disability and the cash will likely go on bills and a treat for her children who have helped her.

She said that she had been feeling guilty because her daughters are running around after her, telling the hosts: “I want to say thank you to them. So thank you so so much.”

Holly said: “Well, you couldn’t have been a better person to pick up the phone today.”

Phil then made This Morning history as he added: “Do you know what we’re gonna do, we’re gonna double it. You’ve got 6 grand Chris.”

He added: “But also, you got the bag of shizzle as well!”

She also thanked the pair for helping her so much through the pandemic, explaining that she was watching the show day-in day-out throughout lockdown.

Chris said: “Thank you so much getting me through the lockdown and the isolation I’ve been in because without you two making me laugh and smile my world would’ve been a different place. So thank you, thank you, thank you.”

The This Morning Twitter account also shared the video to their page as they wrote: “It’s moments like this that we really appreciate, and we are so glad we could give Chris and her girls a little extra help.”

This Morning continues weekdays at 10am on ITV.
