Christine McGuinness never asked Paddy 'for a penny' amid marriage crisis

Model and TV personality Christine McGuinness has confessed that she’s never asked her husband Paddy for “a penny”.

The mother of three openly discussed her relationship with the Top Gear star in her book Christine McGuinness: A Beautiful Nightmare.

Talking about her financial situation, Christine, 34, admitted that although she wasn’t earning as much money as her husband Paddy, 48, she always wanted to show her children that she could provide for herself if needs be.

In the book, she said: “I’ve never asked him for a single penny.

“Where it looked like I’ve not worked and not done anything throughout my troubled twenties, I had a massive chunk of money to use that I was careful with, thank God.”

She continued: “Anything I bought or treated my mum with, any birthday or Christmas presents, I paid for out of my own little pot. And then when it started to run out, I decided to go back to work.

“I’m not actually a big spender, because of the modest background I’ve come from. I’m really shrewd with money and I’m not materialistic,” she explained.

For several months, Paddy and Christine’s relationship has been plagued with split rumours after he wasn’t seen publicly supporting his wife during her stint on ITV’s show The Games before the pair went on holiday without each other last month.

Christine also told The Sun: “What I might have put up with in the past, I probably wouldn’t put up with now, and the same for him,” before sharing: “I can’t deny we are having a very, very difficult time.”

She added: “It’s just — we’ve been together 15 years, 11 years married: we are gonna have ups and downs — but this situation at the minute — I don’t want to go into it too much but I will just say that I didn’t cause this situation.”

When asked about her relationship recently at a charity event in London, the model shut down any rumours and told Daily Star that they were “really good, yeah”.

On Tuesday’s episode of Lorraine (July 12), Christine told host Carol Vorderman: “We just want to be there to support the children and have an amazing summer.’

“We’re going away on a family holiday next week and we’re really excited. They’re always going to be our focus.”
