Most controversial Love Island contestants – from Adam Collard to Scott Thomas

Love Island would be nothing without the inevitable drama that ensues inside the villa.

Sometimes that drama escalates further, becoming full-blown controversies in which third parties have to step in and get involved.

Adam Collard’s return to the ITV2 show in 2022 already has some fans concerned due to his actions in the villa four years ago.

During the 2018 series he was criticised by the charity Women’s Aid, who claimed his treatment of fellow contestant Rosie Williams was the same as “gaslighting”.

It appears the chaos has continued after Jacques emotionally charged exit just after Adam entered the villa and set his sights on Paige.

He isn’t alone though, as there have been many other islanders caught in the middle of their own scandals.

Adam may be pursuing Paige now, back in 2018 he had a connection with four different girls.

He first stole Kendall Rae-Knight from Niall Aslam, only to dump her a week later for bombshell Rosie Williams. They stayed together until day 20 when Zara McDermott walked in.

They stayed together until Zara was unexpectedly umped from the villa. Adam stayed in the villa, and cosied up with Darylle Sargeant during Casa Amor week.

Katie Ghose, Chief Executive of Women’s Aid, said: “On the latest series of Love Island, there are clear warning signs in Adam’s behaviour.

“In a relationship, a partner questioning your memory of events, trivialising your thoughts or feelings, and turning things around to blame you can be part of pattern of gaslighting and emotional abuse.

“Last night, Rosie called out Adam’s unacceptable behaviour on the show. We ask viewers to join her in recognising unhealthy behaviour in relationships and speaking out against all forms of domestic abuse – emotional as well as physical.

“It is only when we make a stand together against abuse in relationships that we will see attitudes change and an end to domestic abuse.”

Women’s Aid have once again come forward in 2022 in the wake of Adam’s return, stating: “We hope that ITV recognise how serious this issue is and that it must be learned from, considering they have asked Adam to return to the show.

Brad McClelland

Brad McClelland was recently caught in the middle of his own scandal after making controversial remarks against another former islander.

During an Instagram live video with stars Jake Cornish, Tyler Cruickshank and Aaron Francis, the four of them mocked Rachel Finni’s appearance.

He read a comment which said: “Rachel, again NOT a bombshell.”

This caused all the boys to laugh, leading to all the participants in the call to release a public apology.

When Rachel was made aware of the clip, she called the lads out, saying: “Imagine I was only on it 5 minutes, have the least amount of followers and yet STILL have more substance, more impact and more interest expressed in me than the lot combined.

“Aside from living off love island fame what exactly are you doing!? What else are you recognised for outside vanity and social media!?”

Faye Winter

During season seven of the show, the islanders were once again split up for Casa Amor.

This was followed by the infamous “movie night”, where the bombshells witnessed each other’s antics during their separation.

Faye Winter saw her partner Teddy Soares admitting he was attracted to Clarisse Juliettè and what followed next was one of the most chaotic and volatile episodes of Love Island ever.

Faye completely lost her temper and for the remainder of the episode she continued to rant and throw verbal abuse at Teddy, even other islanders.

The episodes went viral immediately and the backlash was immense as Ofcom received almost 25,000 complaints.

Scott Thomas

During the 2019 season of the show, Scott Thomas and Kady McDermott’s won the hearts of fans, despite only coming in third place.

They continued their relationship after the series and even though it seemed to be going well, the couple went through shocking split just months after exiting the villa.

It was alleged that Scott assaulted Kady during a drunken argument, leading the Greater Manchester Police to get involved.

“He was later released without charge and no further action will be taken,” as confirmed in an official statement by the police.
