Away from her acting roles, Joanne is married to fellow Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt, who she first met when they attended the same theatre school.

The couple both attended and trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and have both since appeared in the soap Emmerdale.

Dominic plays the role of Paddy Kirk – a long-standing character who has been present in the soap since 1997.

Joanne and Dominic got hitched in 2003, and have since joined forces to create a film production company, which is named after both of their surnames.

They share two children together.

The couple’s son Danny was diagnosed with a heart condition when he was just eight years old.

At one point he was rushed to hospital and had to be sedated and wheeled away to theatre.

He needed to undergo by-pass surgery, which led to Joanne and Dominic being told there was a chance that he might not make it.

Dominic previously told viewers on This Morning: “He had to go through major heart surgery at eight months, but he’s fine now.

“It’s the most horrific thing to have to go through as a parent but he’s football mad now – he’s completely fine – he has to check up once a year for the rest of his life.

“The people at Leeds Infirmary carry you through as parents because you don’t know what you’re doing and you’re given this information and you have to go through it.”
