Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen admits 'challenging' Ravenseat life after split

Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen has admitted that adjusting to life at Ravenseat was “challenging” – following her split from husband Clive.

The Shepherdess said that moving to the wilderness was a huge life change during a chat with James Martin on his ITV Saturday Morning programme.

After being asked about how she got comfortable with farm life, Amanda explained to James: “It is very remote – it’s billed as one of the highest remotest hill farms in England and I mean it’s a challenging place at the best of times.

“So you have to adapt to the ways of the place and it certainly moulds your whole character.”

The Shepherdess added: “I think self sufficiency has to be one of the key things that you have to get your head around.

“Everything is not to hand and you’re pretty much out there, doing your thing, and you have to work with the produce and what is around you.”

She then gave an insight into her and Clive’s married life when she first moved to the farm and said: “It’s been quite a steep learning curve going to Ravenseat.

“And I end up marrying a man who – pretty much – will present me with half a bullock as a gift.”

“You have to go from zero to hero very quickly.”

This comes almost two months after Amanda announced that she and Clive had decided to part ways after 22 years of marriage.

In a joint statement shared on Instagram, Amanda wrote: “Clive and I have are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate.

“This hasn’t been easy, but we bot believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family.

“Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority the happiness and well-being of our children.”

They went on to thank everybody for their support during the difficult time and asked for their privacy to be respected.

Amanda and Clive share their nine children on Ravenseat Farm.
