Love Island bosses have been snubbed by Miss England.
ITV bosses were keen to recruit Rehema Muthamia as a contestant to sex up the new series, but she gave them the brush-off.
LOVE ISLAND: Jess and Eve Gale spill out of matching bikinis as the lie together by pool
The 26-year-old said: “I was approached by Love Island. I thought about it, but I’m not there. I’m busy with many things.”
Six years ago, beauty queen Zara Holland, inset, was stripped of her title as Miss Great Britain because she romped on the reality show.
She has since claimed going on the show destroyed her life.
Rehema admits signing up to be a contestant would have been a gamble.
She said: “With life, there is always a risk when you do something. For one person it might be a negative experience and for another person it might be amazing.”
After turning down Love Island, Rehema is keen to do different work in television. She said: “I’d love to work in entertainment. I have a few shows coming up later this year. I’d like to do TV presenting. That’s a side of things I would like to tap into more.”
Rehema, who recently graduated with a Masters in genetics, will remain Miss England until a new winner is crowned this autumn.
Every year Love Island’s producers approach people who are already in the spotlight.
Last week, pro footballer Jamie Allen was the latest hunk to go into the TV villa.
There has also been a raft of contestants with links to famous people.
In the past, singer Rochelle Humes’s sister Sophie Piper, actor Danny Dyer’s daughter Dani and boxer Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy have all gone in.
And in this series, former footballer Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma is a contestant. Almost all of this year’s original line-up of singletons were scouted by producers.
