Love Island's Shaughna Phillips sparks concern as she shares photo from hospital

Love Island 2020 star Shaughna Phillips has opened up to her fans after going back into hospital for a medical procedure, admitting she is “terrified”.

The reality star, 28, shared a picture from hospital before going in for a colposcopy, showing the sign in the background of the ward.

Shaughna wrote: “Sun day fun day?

“So I said I would be sharing my experience with you all and currently I’m sh**ting my pants.

“Still screaming for ladies to book their smears!”

She later told fans: “How did the colposcopy go? Chilling and feeling sorry for myself for the rest of the day.

Shaughna shared an update with her followers about her hospital visit

“Although I did have 3 nurses who were so lovely and made me feel looked after. Still screaming for ladies to book your smears if you’re overdue.”

Shaughna’s treatment comes after she confirmed she had tested positive for HPV in May.

HPV (human papillomavirus) is a common sexually transmitted infection and colposcopies are an internal procedure to examine the cervix to check for further abnormalities if a sample test comes back positive.

Shaughna posted on Twitter: “I tested positive for HPV and have had borderline changes to some cells that require further examination.

She admitted she is terrified of what is coming next

“I’m scared but that’s okay. Thank god for screening Ladies, book your smear.”

Shaughna also admitted on her Instagram Story that she was “absolutely terrified” but that she was “so glad” she shared her smear test results.

Back in 2020, Shaughna revealed that she found a lump on her breast only months after her father passed away from pancreatic cancer.

She wrote: “A few weeks ago I told you all that I was having my routine three year smear test, and urged anyone who’s missed their appointment or thinks they’re overdue to book.”

Shaughna added: ‘Yesterday I received my results and have had changes to some of the cells called “borderline changes” that require further examination. I also tested HPV positive.’

She continued: ‘Of course I was absolutely terrified initially, and although everyone I’ve spoke to has reassured me how common this is, it is still scary.’

There’s certain language used that I didn’t realise I still have a real hard time hearing, ‘biopsy’, any word ending with ‘oscopy’ and of course ‘cancer’ are all associated with extreme trauma for me, so reading them in a letter addressed to me really really knocked me.”
